Explanation of Responses:
1. Each share of Class B Common Stock is convertible at any time at the option of the holder into one share of Class A Common Stock and has no expiration date. In addition, each share of Class B Common Stock will convert automatically into one share of Class A Common Stock upon (1) any transfer, whether or not for value and whether voluntary or involuntary or by operation of law, except for certain transfers described in the Issuer's certificate of incorporation, including, without limitation, certain transfers for tax and estate planning purposes or (continued to Footnote (2))
2. (continued from Footnote (1)) (2) the death or disability, as defined in the Issuer's certificate of incorporation, of the applicable Class B common stockholder (or nine months after the date of death or disability if the stockholder is one of the Issuer's founders). In addition, on the first trading day following the date on which the outstanding shares of Class B Common Stock represent less than 10% of the aggregate voting power of the Issuer's then outstanding capital stock, all outstanding shares of Class B Common Stock shall convert automatically into Class A Common Stock, and no additional shares of Class B Common Stock will be issued.
3. The reported securities are owned directly by The Robert C. Kramer Trust (the "Trust"). The Reporting Person is the sole trustee and beneficiary of the Trust.
4. Each share of Series A Convertible Preferred Stock is convertible at any time at the option of the holder into one share of Class B Common Stock, has no expiration date and will convert into shares of Class B Common Stock upon the closing of the Issuer's initial public offering.
5. Fully vested. The shares subject to this option become exercisable upon the earlier of (a) a change of control or (b) the closing of the Issuer's initial public offering.
6. This option vested with respect to one-fifth of the shares subject to this option on April 8, 2017. The remaining shares subject to this option will vest in four equal annual installments commencing on April 8, 2018 and on the next three anniversaries thereof, subject to the Reporting Person's continued service to the Issuer through each vesting date. The shares subject to this option become exercisable upon the earlier of (a) a change of control or (b) the closing of the Issuer's initial public offering.
7. This option will vest in five equal annual installments commencing on April 25, 2018 and on each of the next four anniversaries thereof, subject to the Reporting Person's continued service to the Issuer through each vesting date. The shares subject to this option become exercisable upon the earlier of (a) a change of control or (b) the closing of the Issuer's initial public offering.

and appoints each of Christopher Winters, Lauren Ackermann and Eric
Jensen, signing individually, the undersigned's true and lawful
attorneys-in fact and agents to:
(1) execute for and on behalf of the undersigned, in the undersigned's
capacity as an officer, director or beneficial owner of more than 10%
of a registered class of securities of Appian Corporation, Forms 3, 4,
and 5 (including any amendments thereto) in accordance with Section 16(a)
of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended (the "Exchange Act")
and the rules thereunder and a Form ID, Uniform Application for Access
Codes to File on EDGAR;
(2) do and perform any and all acts for and on behalf of the undersigned
that may be necessary or desirable to execute such Forms 3, 4, or 5, or
Form ID (including any amendments thereto) and timely file such forms with
the United States Securities and Exchange Commission and any stock exchange
or similar authority, including creating a new passphrase and generating
new EDGAR access codes via the EDGAR filer manager website; and
(3) take any other action of any nature whatsoever in connection with the
foregoing which, in the opinion of such attorney-in-fact, may be of benefit,

requisite, necessary or proper to be done in the exercise of any of the

the undersigned might or could do if personally present, with full power of
substitution or revocation, hereby ratifying and confirming all that such
attorney-in-fact, or such attorney-in-fact's substitute or substitutes,
shall lawfully do or cause to be done by virtue of this power of attorney
and the rights and powers herein granted.  The undersigned acknowledges
that the foregoing attorneys-in-fact, in serving in such capacity at the
request of the undersigned, are not assuming, nor is Appian Corporation
assuming, any of the undersigned's responsibilities to comply with
Section 16 of the Exchange Act.This Power of Attorney shall remain in full
force and effect until the earliest to occur of (a) the undersigned is no
longer required to file Forms 3, 4 and 5 with respect to the undersigned's
holdings of and transactions in securities issued by Appian Corporation,
(b) revocation by the undersigned in a signed writing delivered to the
foregoing attorneys-in-fact or (c) as to any attorney-in-fact individually,
until such attorney-in-fact is no longer employed by Appian Corporation or
Cooley LLP.
